Super Awesome Day with Super Awesome People
Thursday, July 29, 2010 8:23 PM

JULY 29, 2010

I supeeeeer loooove this daaaaaaay! And here are the reasons why. :">

1. SUPER AWESOME DAY WITH THE KIDS

I, together with my super awesome Tugon orgmates Stef, Queeny, Maybelle and Nat, had an awesome day because of the awesome kids in Concordia.

Just in case you don't know, Concordia is a wonderful place that serves as a home for abandoned babies.

I appreciated this experience because I met a lot of super cute and adorable babies. Eventhough we've been together for just an hour or so, I swear, I already love all of them! I love the super friendly twins Aaron and Amos, I love the handsome Jun Jun, I love Kenneth (also known as Lolo) eventhough he has his own world and eventhough he cries whenever I approach him. I love Rissa the crybaby eventhough she cries all the time and of course, I love the gorgeous Chesca who is sooo sweet.

DAAAAANGGG. How can someone abandon beautiful and adorable angels like them?

Aside from meeting enchanting babies, I am so grateful for this experience because it made me realize the fact that I am soooo lucky because my parents didn't abandon me and because they are still here to show the love and care all of us deserve, especially those innocent little ones in Concordia.

Our visit was sooooo fulfilling because we shared our hearts to the babies who need some, oh no scratch that, lots of love. :">

There real parents are so unfortunate because they will never see how wonderful their babies are and they will never witness what will happen to their babies someday.

2. A CHANCE TO MEET NEW ATENEANS

Our visit to Concordia also gave us the chance to get to know each other more. I met Maybelle, our leader for the day. I saw and witnessed how kind, generous and dedicated she is. Maybelle is truly an epitome of true beauty because she is beautiful inside and out. :) A also had the chance to meet Nat. Nat is a very friendly person. From the start until the end of our journey, I didn't see her frown. From the way she shared her stories, I felt the love and care she has for the kids. I also had the chance to spend more time with my blockmate Stef and my English and Literature blockmate Queeny. The three of us stayed in the crawlers' area. And there I saw their kiddie and naughty sides! :)) It was nice because we spent one of the best experiences together.

3. MY FIRST LRT RIDE

We rode the LRT from Katipunan to V. Mapa. And.. IT WAS MY FIRST LRT RIDE! Loser much. :|=)) Super exciting and amazing and fuuuunnyyyy!

4. MY EMBARASSING BLUNDERS

HAHAHAHA :)) I actually had two blunders. The first one was in the LRT Station. Since it's my first time, I inserted the LRT Card improperly and it got stuck inside the machine! NAKAKAHIYA SOBRA :))

The second one was in Concordia and it was worse than the LRT Card!

After spending one hour with the kids, my mind went sabaaaw because of exhaustion.

Me: Maybelle, babalik pa tayong Rural?
Maybelle: *confused* Huh? Saan yun?
Me: Sa Rural babalik pa tayo?
Nat: Aaaaaah! Your school before!
Me: SHEEEEEEEEEEET. I mean, babalik pa tayong Ateneo?

Urghhh. SUPER NAKAKAHIYA. :)) Sorry Nat. Sorry Maybelle. :|

Abortion is No Different from Murder
Saturday, July 17, 2010 7:12 AM

ENGLISH 11 REQUIREMENT : 700-word essay about any topic

--

Baby.

Whenever people hear this word, a lot of things come to their minds like cute, astonishing, gorgeous, blessing and inspiration. Sadly, not everyone is blessed to have children of their own. And although it is very excruciating to even say, while some babies open their eyes to witness the beauty of life, there are some unfortunate babies who suffer from pain while sharp objects dismember their body parts through abortion.

What is abortion, you may ask? Abortion is a morbid act that brutally kills a baby inside the womb. Without any anesthesia, the unborn baby’s body parts are dismembered, torn apart and vacuumed or the baby is pulled out through the use of force while his head is still inside his mother and a sharp object will be plunged into the back of his neck and sucks out his brain.

Surely, just by reading this, one can already imagine the horrors of abortion. No doubt, just by imagining the pains and sufferings of innocent babies while they are being torn apart brings tears to everyone’s eyes.

“Women have the right to control their body.” – this is what people who support abortion always say. Yes, there is no question about that. But despite the idea that women have the right to control their body, they should never consider having an abortion.

Unquestionably, abortion is an epitome of selfishness. By undergoing abortion, a woman brutally kills her own baby, made from her own flesh and blood, who cannot even do anything about it. Abortion involves murdering the weakest and the most defenseless amongst humans. By opting to have her baby killed by having an abortion, a woman steals away her baby’s chance of witnessing the beauty of life. She hinders the opportunity of her baby to pursue his dreams. Abortion selfishly takes away the lives of future lawyers, doctors, soldiers, teachers and the heroes of the next generation.

Abortion is also against the religious views. One of the earliest Christian writings, the Didache or the Teaching of the Twelve Apostles states: "You shall not kill the child in the womb or murder a new-born infant." Religious traditions have always valued human life, including the unborn. Different religions emphasize that “Life begins at conception and is created by God.” Even the unborn children have certain rights to care, protection and most of all, life.

Lastly, abortion is an unsafe process and it can cause women lots of health problems. Research shows that abortion increases a woman's overall risk of breast cancer by 30 per cent. To make things worse, it is already proven that abortion plays a role in cancers of the reproductive system and rectal cancers. Not only that! Abortion can also affect the subsequent pregnancies negatively and can even cause sterility. Aside from these, women who undergo abortion have the tendency to suffer from lifelong depression because of guilt and their conscience. According to the medical experts, 90 per cent of the women who had an abortion were all shades of distress, anxiety, heartache and remorse. The list of the health problems caused by abortions does not end there. By having an abortion, women can suffer from infection, hemorrhage and uterine perforation which can actually lead to the death of these women.

Despite the idea that women have the right to control their body, they should never consider having an abortion because it is an epitome of selfishness, it is against the religious views and it can cause a lot of dangerous health problems which can even kill them. If they are not yet ready for the responsibility of having a baby, they can consider adoption. After all, adoption is a much better way than killing the baby, right? Besides, there are many couples out there who are yearning to have a child and are willing to show so much care, love and concern which the babies deserve.

Each year, two million lives are stolen away, two million defenseless babies are dismembered, torn apart and killed brutally and two million dreams and futures are crushed and destroyed all because of abortion. Why throw and waste another two million lives? Stop this murder. Say no to abortion.
